I've been using Zong VoLTE for about a month, but two days ago I noticed my phone was also activating Zong VoWiFi. However, VoWiFi only seems to work when I switch to a 2G/3G. After successfully connecting to VoWiFi, I can switch to a 4G network and VoWiFi continue to function. The problem arises when I'm not on WiFi. The network then reverts to 3G during calls. my phone appears to have difficulty switching between VoWiFi and VoLTE. Additionally, VoWiFi doesn't automatically activate when I connect to Wi-Fi while using VoLTE. Strangely, I need to manually re-enable 2G/3G networks for VoWiFi to work. I'm wondering if VoLTE and VoWiFi are still under development, causing this issue, or if it's specific to my phone. Should VoWiFi automatically activate on WiFi and seamlessly switch with VoLTE, or is this a common problem?
Which device are you using? Have you set prefer network for calling as WiFi?

It should automatically switch between VoWiFi and VoLTE based on WiFi availability (as it does with Jazz). It could be in the testing phase which is causing those issues. As a workaround, you can use Tasker to automatically switch to 2G/3G when connected to a WiFi and back to 4G when disconnected.

To this date I have not figured out what CharJi actually uses.

PTCL has spectrum in both 1.9 and 3.5 GHz bands. One is useable for 5G and the other is useless.
Whatever charji was being used, main reason behind its closure is its performance as compare to Ufone Blaze and coverage. PTCL needed to operate a separete coverage and frequencies for charji and very few people were using it because of other MBB devices in the market.

Alright... I'll try Tasker

Got a Zong number recently with their new '0370' code. Turns out it can not receive incoming calls from any landline numbers.

Dialing from Nayatel says 'This number is not listed' and dialing from PTCL says 'Ye number kisi ke istemaal mein nahin'.

How is this stuff not tested? Considering 0370 numbers went on sale in late 2023, one would assume they would have fixed something like this by now.

My complaint with Zong is still in progress on 'high priority' so let's see how this goes.

lol.

Tethering (edit: I mean "teething") problems. I once remember having an issue somewhat similar with Zong and my mum's number (it was a new number, but with a normal code, on Zong). Zong wouldn't connect to her phone but her phone would connect to Zong (or something like this - this was waaay back). I had to ring up Zong and they fixed it from their back-end. Maybe this is related? I would think Zong would need to fix the number registry at their end (because it's probably telling other operators this number does not exist through signals).

Isn't 0370 belongs to SCO?

Back in the Instaphone days, I remember the code 0351 lol. I was very young then and had this obsession to remember phone numbers (I still remember the number though).

Well this is weird. Zong still hasn't resolved my complaint about not receiving incoming calls from landline numbers.

This morning I received a call from a landline number on the Zong SIM and I picked it up thinking it was Zong doing a test phone call. Turns out it was some insurance company trying to sell me a policy.

I should've asked them what network they were using because when I tried calling my own number from my landline, it still doesn't work.

How did their call come through then?

That's frustrating! Have you tried contacting your landline provider about the issue? I know it might seem strange, but sometimes the problem can originate with the landline network. In fact, I had a similar situation a few months back where I wasn't receiving calls on Telenor number from a PTCL landline. PTCL was already aware of the issue and was able to register my complaint.

So, a few things:
1. caller ID spoofing: you can actually do that. Sometimes, people use a different number and when you call back, that number is invalid. Yes, it happens in Pakistan (I know UBL has these things where if a staff calls you, it appears to come from a Ufone number but when you call back, it doesn't connect and says it's an invalid number).
2. I know HBL and Carrefour use the 701xxxx series in Islamabad. I have NO clue who these numbers are licensed to. I also know 6xx-xxxx are also used by HBL (because my phone extension was 6xy-yyyy). I haven't figured out who the exchange provider is (I was always curious).

Nayatel is 8xx-xxxx, PTCL is 2/4/5xx-xxxx... so I really have no clue. Definitely an ISP that has a local loop license but only caters to the corporate world.

I'll complain to both PTCL and Nayatel tomorrow and see if they'll register the complaint or just tell me to take it up with Zong instead.

Zong tried closing my complaint again this morning by saying 'Our teams checked and found no issues'. This is after 3 different agents confirmed to me that whatever 'relevant team' was in charge would confirm with me first before closing the complaint. I emailed them back immediately and they said they are still working on it.

Completely disorganised....

Companies love closing complaints. I tell them "who said the complaint is closed? Please reopen it".

Also, tell PTA about this complaint. Make sure you say it's not the agent's fault.

Ufone is utilizing 2CCA in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, with 15MHz of Band 3 and 5MHz of Band 1.
About damn time.

Jazz still messes up in Bahria.

Zong's signals don't work as well as Jazz's when they're poor.

And I haven't been able to get VoLTE on my Pixel 4 (I need a new phone, but not Samsung cause of the bloat, even though they're compelling devices... And expensive).

I was expecting Zong to say that, but they keep saying the complaint is still in process with the relevant team. I know these guys love shifting the blame on someone else so I thought they'd immediately say it's not our fault.

Join us (most of the bloat is removable through ADB).
