Hi,

Ok guys, this weekend was a nightmare for me as well as for whole karachi....first there was the record breaking rain, due to which i couldn't reach home from office till sunday morning.....and then there was no electricity and water either (water problem is still there and they are freakin saying that there won't be any water before next 3 days :crying:).....

Now, the thing, my stabilizer had prblems for last few days, so i was using my pc directly.....it was running fine.....however, yesterday night after electricity came, my bro started the pc and as it was on windows loading screen, there was a voltage fluctuation and the pc restarted. after that it didn't boot......

Ok first i thought it might be a normal issue but it didn't start.....i opened the case and pushed the power button and saw that when power button is pushed, the CPU fan (and other case fan, psu fan) spin for a sec and then stop, there is no display.....i then refreshed bios without any success....

Changed rams, 1 by 1 and nothing.....same problem happened everytime....unplugged all connectors and connected them again, nothing.....removed gpu and tried with igp, nothing.....removed cpu from mobo and then put it in again, nothing......

So, i have concluded that Mobo has died.....although i have searched on net and found that same problem sometime can happen due to a dead cmos battery or overloaded psu....i will check the psu part with a spare psu tonight and battery part tomorrow......mobo is still in warranty with galaxy and i was gonna take it tomorrow but due to riots in different areas, i couldn't go, so most prolly i will go tomorrow.....

So, if anyone of you guys have faced same problem before, you can share with me if you solved it somehow on your own or replaced the mobo?? i can't freakin wait for 10 days for mobo replacement......:crying:

Sorry to hear that. Most probably its ur PSU coz electricity fluctuations can affect PSUs more than any other component. Same happened to me a few years back. Just replaced the PSU and every thing was up and running again. So check it first, hopefully UR PC will come back to life again :)

hmmmmmm...a very grave thing ......try the mobo with a spare psu pronto .....and reset cmos whle you are at it(turn it on with out the battery so the the capacitors are all drained).....
usually when a psu goes it takes the rams and other stuff with it...hope this is not the case with you>>????
waise mobo ke light on ho rahe hai ya wo bhi nai ho rahe????

Even if the mobo is gone dont worry galaxy has an incredible service.. i just sent them a gpu that died within a week of purchase, and as soon as they got the package (i got the msg from tcs when they got the package) within an hour i got a mail from them that they have dispatched a replacement card.. so even if its busted they fix you up in a couple of days max..

bad to hear this....my pc is also directly conected to electrick socket directly and i never saw anyone in germany Using stabilizer or something for pc....everyone conects directly 24/7...i remember that when i was in pakistan in 2003 i tried to conect my pentium 3 directly to electrick socket without stabilizer because i wanted to save money and the after 1 week the computer hanged in bios and then never started ( may be also because of fluctuation) anyway since it was only 1 week old new bought computer so took it to the gul haji plaza and after maing full controll they came to know that my cpu ( pentium 3 ) was dead :( but PSU was ok and i have to wait about 2 months until i got new pentium 3 but may be your PSU is dead but not CPU.....!if CPU is dead you do see bios screen when you start computer but it will give cpu error or ram error....since you say you dont see anything on your monitor and your pc fans spin for a sec and turn off again so its definitly a PSU not mainboard.

I am dead sure that this is the problem of your PSU. Because the part you are saying,
when power button is pushed, the CPU fan (and other case fan, psu fan) spin for a sec and then stop, there is no display
Only happens when there is some PSU issue. Recently, a friend of mine also got a THUDDA like this :(

oh & Nomi929! THAT CALL from me was infact about THAT issue ;)

do you smell like weired from PSU or mobo....becasue mostly if you smell something near your pc then thats mean some part of your pc burst...you can try
hmm didn't smell it yet :D, will check it tonite too...

Check Capacitors on MB, maybe they are leaked.
hmm will check this too, although i didn't notice any such thing...will look thoroughly again....

@abobilly....it will be gud if it's a psu issue, i can get it changed quickly.....

Oh bro it's so sad that ur system is not working. I hope it's the PSU which is at fault and i know that it's in warrenty so u can claim it easily.

---------- Post added at 12:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:20 AM ----------

and do buy a gud stabilizer now b4 using ur system. I just bought a stabimatic 1000VA servo stabilizer and so far i can only say that it's termendous, no sounds, runs pretty cool, nicely built, slim and smart and does the job. So i would also advise u 2 get the same one.

Fajoo i think you might be in luck as far as the mobo goes. i had the EXACT same prob with my system not so long ago, courtesy Wapda and its shenanigans. the CPU fan would spin for a sec and then nothing. I feared for the worst and was convinced the mobo was kaput. turned out it was actually the PSU which had died (it was a generic 500W PSU). changed it to an ASUS and all was back to normal.

check teh system with a different PSU pronto. im sure the mobo's fine. fingers crossed.

and both of u guys are absolutely correct.....it is the psu, my new psu died due to voltage fluctuation as i was using it for few days without stabilizer :(......thank u guys for ur really valueable suggestions and most of u were right on the spot (y)(bow)

rite now i m using the system on a china psu without gpu, will go for claiming the warranty on psu tomorrow......actually the mobo's battery was also out coz with the same battery, the system was not booting up either....however, after i replaced the battery and changed psu, the system booted and now working gud......

Karachi.
PowerSupply is the problem..
The same thing happened to be 1 month back when Karachi suffered 24 hour breakdown.
On that morning, an unusually high voltage got past the stabilizer and damaged my PowerSupply. A wierd smell, like that of burning machine oil was coming out of the PowerSupply.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
