Reduce Your World of Warcraft Ping/Latency By 60%

This registry tweak i have been using for 3 yrs now works like a gem.

Note this Tweak is only for WinXP and is 90% garaunteed that it will work

1 - TcpAckFrequency - NOTE if you are running Windows Vista this setting may not have any effect This works fine under Windows XP. *note: I did this on my vista machine and still noticed improvement*

Type "regedit" in windows "run.." dialog to bring up registry menu

Then find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\

There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed in there, find the one you use to connect to the internet, there will be several interfaces listed (they have long names like {7DBA6DCA-FFE8-4002-A28F-4D2B57AE8383}. Click each one, the right one will have lots of settings in it and you will see your machines IP address listed there somewhere. Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TcpAckFrequency, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1.

You can change it back to 2 (default) at a later stage if it affects your other TCP application performance. it tells windows how many TCP packets to wait before sending ACK. if the value is 1, windows will send ACK every time it receives a TCP package.

2 - TCPNoDelay
This one is pretty simple

Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TCPNoDelay, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1.

If you are missing the MSMQ folder, you can add it yourself by copying the text below, saving it to a text file and rename it msmq.reg. Then right-click the file, select merge and click ok to the box that pops up. This registry file has the TCPNoDelay setting already entered.

well on US arthas i get around 200-250.. reduced from 400 , compared to when i was in canada i used to get 90 reduced from 220 .. so its pretty good ..

I need to install Win 7 as well. Playing WOW on Vista is damn annoying as it takes a lot of resources.

I haven't used this fix, buy I was getting 180 on WoW Arthas and ~250 on retail EU server, though a lot of DCing during intense raids.

Yar am getting btwn 500-600 during day time...Evenings am gettin 700-1000. Used the script and it does help a lil. But I am using PTCL EVO so hence my shit latency. Was getting better latency when I used wi-tribe and wateen usb.
Still have to try worldcall usb.

Hassan ignore that part, one can never know the difference of retail and Pserver,

I have played Pserver for last 3-4 years since WoW scape time, and recently joined retail 2 days ago and I can stand on the edge of a sharp sword and say Pserver WoW is not what retail is, its entirely different what we play on Pserver is a joke simple.

@on topic: i am getting 1k latency on my PTCL connection at Thurissan , minimum is around 680ms using Win7 any idea if that thing works for Win7 too? if not what should I do this ms issue is game breaking for me now.

It should come down. Tomorrow was a nightmare for everyone since there were a lot of ppl leveling in the same zone. As for fixing latency I might give this one a try again but then again I feel comfortable with 400-500ms latency and that is where your latency lies normally when doing arenas, raids and dungeons. Its the capitals or small places like Dalaran where you face latency issues but thats the same with everyone. Even the guys in SG have latency problems sometimes cuz of this.
